Design, Spec and Build High Performance Wall Assemblies

Tuesday, October 14, 2014 to Wednesday, October 15, 2014

The Energy Center of Wisconsin will host a half-day course that covers how to effectively design, spec, and build high performance walls without breaking the bank. Attendees will know the principles to use when selecting all working elements of building assemblies: framing and sheathing, insulation, water resistive barriers and air sealing. This free course will be held in Madison, WI on October 14 and in La Crosse, WI on October 15.

MREA Course: Solar Thermal System Conceptual Design

Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) financing is a vehicle to pay for energy efficiency improvements or renewable energy installations on private property. Local or state governments or other entities fund the upfront costs of the improvements, which are paid back over time through property assessments added to the owner’s property tax bills. Better Buildings Challenge partners, including Milwaukee, describe their successful experiences with PACE financing as program developers, city administrators, and property owners.

Take a self-guided tour of innovative and unique renewable energy projects and green built homes and businesses throughout Wisconsin on Saturday October 4. Homeowners and businesses will open their doors 10:00- 4:00. This is part of the National Solar Tour by the American Solar Energy Society hosted locally by the Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA). Tours of the ReNew the Earth Institute, headquarters of MREA, and a bus tour of renewable projects in Milwaukee from 1:00 – 4:00 are also available.
